Lucknow: In a significant breakthrough, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s Mahanagar Police team arrested two individuals, including a juvenile, for allegedly stealing motorcycles from temple parking lots in the city.
On May 20, two separate cases of motorcycle theft were registered at Mahanagar police station. The first FIR (No. 122/25 under Section 308(2) of the BNS) was filed after a motorcycle with registration number UP 32 KW 2201 was stolen from the parking area of the Hanuman Setu temple. The second FIR (No. 123/25 under Section 308(2) of the BNS) was lodged after another motorcycle, UP 32 JA 4478, was reported stolen near Panchmukhi Mandir in Nirala Nagar.
Acting on a tip-off from an informant, the Mahanagar Police laid a trap near Jhandewala Park on May 26. The accused — Rahul Tiwari, 19, son of Sohanlal Tiwari from Maigalganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, and a 16-year-old minor — were apprehended while attempting to move the stolen vehicles. Both motorcycles, involved in the recent thefts, were recovered from their possession.

Modus Operandi
According to the police, the accused specifically targeted parked two-wheelers near busy temples. They would scout parking areas with minimal surveillance and use tools to break locks or hotwire motorcycles before fleeing the scene.
